Junior/Assistant Manager Sales - Islamabad-based

About the role
OUP Pakistan is seeking experienced Sales representatives to join our expanding sales team. Overall, the role will primarily be responsible to drive adoption of the Press’s curriculum textbooks at schools, college, and higher education institutes.

The Junior/Assistant Manager Sales will be required to work in the field by visiting prospective, current, and past clients with the aim to build and sustain relationships and develop a base of contacts that will ultimately drive sales in the designated territory. S/he will be responsible for all aspects of sales, pipeline building, qualifying target opportunities, managing the sales cycle, closing orders, and following through to revenue. Within the scope of this role, the successful candidate(s) will ensure to maintain the Press’s policies, standards, and practices, and adherence to the Press’s mission and values.

The Position
This is a position responsible for developing, planning and project managing a list of market-oriented Computer Science titles that achieve market approval and sales to meet the strategic objectives of OUP Pakistan (OUPP).

The Junior/Assistant Editor will be tasked with the project management of an allocated number of titles that will help grow OUPP’s Computer Science lists from early years to primary, secondary, and higher secondary school levels. This primarily includes all activities associated with the solicitation/acquisition and commissioning of manuscripts, editorial review, proofreading and editing of content, and liaising with authors and designers to ensure that publication timelines are met.

The Person

  • A strong school education and relevant Master’s degree.
  • Impeccable English language with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Prior experience in proofreading, editing along, project planning and management.
  • At least 2 to 3 years’ experience in teaching the aforementioned subjects will be an added advantage

Senior Manager School Editorial - Karachi-based

About the role
The position offers the opportunity of providing strategic leadership and oversight to School Editorial team for content management, tone of voice and OUP housestyle for all assigned titles from inception to completion with the aim of achieving publishing targets, especially developing new businesses for the constantly changing environment in which Oxford University Press, Pakistan (OUPP) operates. This includes review procedures, contractual matters, quality of language, proofreading, content and illustrations, to meet the specific deadlines and schedules per the standards of OUP. S/he will be involved in the reviewing process, market research, and work with the curriculum authorities for introducing focused titles for specific subjects as per OUP quality and standards.

To develop strong synergy and rapport with authors, Ministries, and other stakeholders affecting the business, and demonstrate and practice high organizational values and ethics. S/he will be responsible to develop resources and plans as per the current business trends and needs in order to deliver as per the strategy. To ensure that research, planning, commissioning and timely delivery of projects contributes to the growth of the business.

About you
The ideal candidate should possess:

  • A strong school education and university degree (equivalent to Master's);

Business and Technical Analyst - Karachi-based

About the role
This position is based in the Digital Publishing department of OUP Pakistan (OUPP). It primarily involves working on the development and implementation of standalone digital products, such as educational programmes, blended learning content, and eBooks, etc. to complement OUPP’s print publishing, with the overall aim to generate new revenue streams for OUPP. In addition to creating relevant content, the role will also include conducting and analysing market research/feedback to make informed data-driven decisions, and suggest innovative business models to create digital user-base and manage digital subscriptions. Additionally, the candidate will be dealing with vendor and platform management, including testing of digital platforms and/or applications to help ensure high quality and timely delivery.

About you
The candidate should have:

  • A strong school education and university degree (equivalent to Masters) preferably in field of Computer Science preferably or Education Technology, Communication Design, or Media Studies.
  • Prior 3-4 years’ experience as a project manager or product architect for digital platforms/app development. Knowledge and experience of agile project management is preferred.

Junior/Assistant, Manager, Intellectual Property Rights (Anti-piracy) - Islamabad-based

About the role
The Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) department at OUP Pakistan (OUPP) is responsible for curbing piracy of OUPP books by conducting raids to identify booksellers/printers/ distributors who are seeking to sell pirated materials to schools and universities, thereby infringing the copyrights owned by Oxford University Press and acting in breach of Pakistan’s copyright legislation and international copyright treaties.

As a member of this team, the Junior/Assistant Manager IPR will be primarily responsible for conducting raids against suspected pirates and raise awareness of anti-piracy among stakeholders. This also includes liaising with registrars of copyrights and trademarks, investigating piracy-related activities in local markets, and cultivating a strong working relationship with concerned Government agencies and legal experts for filing or pursuing lawsuits or any other kind of legal measures.

This position will report to Manager IPR, Islamabad.

About you
The ideal candidate will have:

  • A strong school education and law graduate (minimum) from a reputed local or foreign university.

The Position
This is a team-lead position responsible for developing, planning, and managing projects of market-oriented Mathematics titles to meet the strategic objectives of OUP Pakistan.

The Editor will provide leadership to the team of Mathematics editors in the project management of an allocated number of titles from conceptualization to pre-press. This includes all activities associated with the solicitation/acquisition and commissioning of manuscripts, editorial review, proofreading and editing of content, and liaising with authors and designers to ensure that publication timelines are met.

Additionally, the role will also require building strong relationships with schools, professionals, and authors to gain new projects and ideas for Mathematics titles, conducting market research and incorporating findings into new and existing products, and managing the development of comprehensive, high quality educational teaching materials for both learners and teachers in appropriate markets.

This position will report to the Senior Manager School Editorial.

The Person
The candidate will be required to have the following:

  • A strong school education and relevant Bachelor’s/Master’s degree (preferably in Mathematics/Education).
  • Proficiency in the English language with strong interpersonal, leadership, and people management skills.
  • Prior experience in proofreading, editing along, project planning and management in the publishing industry.
  • At least 5 to 6 years’ experience in teaching (particularly Mathematics) will be an added advantage.
