Intikhab-e-Kalam Majaz
Majaz was a poet most representative of his age, struggling for independence as well as seeking social emancipation. His poetry, specially his masterpiece ‘Awarah’ (Vagabond) characterizes what we came to identify in the 1960s as the
‘Angry Young Man’. He was an asset to the Progressive Writers’ Movement, as attested by all his contemporaries and comrades. Even today, 50 years after his mysterious death, Majaz exercises a spell over every succeeding generation of
poets and critics. This volume showcases a selection of his poetry.
