Understanding History Book 1 (third edition)
The second edition of Understanding History is developed according to the guidelines of Pakistan National Curriculum, 2022, for grades 6, 7, and 8.
The series explores the critical historical and geographical significance of the region in which Pakistan lies, tracing its journey through major civilisations and global events. Book 1 (Grade 6) introduces the earliest civilisations and moves through the rise of Islamic civilisation and its interactions with Europe. Book 2 (Grade 7) examines the Medieval Ages with a focus on the influence of Islamic empires, the Crusades, and the history of the subcontinent—from the Delhi Sultanate to the rise, peak, and decline of the Mughals. Book 3 (Grade 8) covers resistance to foreign domination, the expansion of the British East India Company into the British Raj, pivotal personalities, including saints and leaders of the Pakistan Movement, the creation of Pakistan, and major national developments since 1947. It also discusses key global events such as the World Wars and the Cold War that shaped regional dynamics.
