Oxford University Press organized Educators' Symposium on 'Maximising Learning Potential'

PRESS RELEASE

Dubai, 15 January 2017: Oxford University Press (OUP) organized a symposium for educators on the theme ‘Maximising Learning Potential’ at the Waldorf Astoria Dubai Palm Jumeirah.

The event showcased the textbooks, supplementary readers, and digital resources published by OUP China, India, and Pakistan for all Indian, Pakistani and Arabic medium schools. It provided a good opportunity for educators in the UAE to come together to share their experiences and expertises, and learn about the effective use of OUP resources in classrooms.

As a part of the symposium, the OUP author of several bestselling school textbook series, Nicholas Horsburgh, led a workshop on ‘Facilitating the 21st Century Learner’ which addressed creative ways to meet the learning needs of today’s students. This was followed by presentations by trainers from China, India, and Pakistan on the latest products, including digital resources, and teaching strategies in their respective regions. Discussions focused on ways to unlock the latent potential of students for improving learning and life skills.

A wide range of educational resources produced by OUP China, India, and Pakistan was showcased at the venue throughout the event. Oxford consultants from these countries were at hand to provide expert guidance on the use of these products.

Ameena Saiyid OBE, Representative in the UAE of OUP China, India, Malaysia, and Pakistan and MD OUP Pakistan, formally introduced Ibrahim Abdurakhimov, the OUP Education Consultant based in Dubai, to the UAE community of teachers and educators. Ibrahim will be laising directly with schools to determine their students’ learning needs and will provide educational solutions based on their requirements.

The symposium concluded with distribution of gift bags and certificates to the participants.

The symposium provided a unique opportunity to bring the teaching community of the UAE together and discuss the best resources, pedagogical strategies, and methodologies that can be used to optimize the learning and teaching experience in schools. Participation in the symposium will allow institutions to target student needs through the dynamic breadth and variety of OUP’s educational resources, tools, and services on offer.
