New Oxford bookshop inaugurated in Islamabad

Islamabad, 6 January: The Oxford University Press (OUP) bookshop at the Centaurus Mall in Islamabad―the latest addition to OUP’s network of eighteen bookshops across Pakistan―was inaugurated by Engineer Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman, Minister of State Federal Education and Professional Training, Interior and Narcotics Control.

Its prime location within the hugely popular Centaurus Mall in the heart of Islamabad, makes the Oxford bookshop easily accessible to the mall visitors as well as to the general public. It boasts a beautiful interior with bookshelves carrying the complete range of Oxford publications, which includes school, college, and university textbooks; supplementary reading material; English Language Teaching materials; teachers’ resource books; dictionaries and reference books; and general and academic books. The bookshop also features a reading corner where customers can browse, sit, and read at their leisure. Events for children, such as storytelling, quizzes, poster-making contests, as well as talks, discussions, and poetry readings for adults, are also held here, thus providing a forum where people can engage in literary activities.

Speaking at the inauguration, Ameena Saiyid, Managing Director, Oxford University Press Pakistan, said that the opening of the new bookshop ensures ready availability of Oxford books to all categories of customers visiting the mall i.e. students, parents, booklovers, and booksellers. She further added that the presence of the bookshop will help further OUP’s objective of dissemination of knowledge and promote the love of books and reading.
