Oxford hosts a talk by the Mind Mapping expert, Tony Buzan

Karachi, 17 Aug.: Oxford University Press (OUP) organized a talk by Tony Buzan, who is the world-renowned inventor of a thinking technique called Mind Mapping and an expert on the brain, memory, speed reading, creativity, and innovation. Tony, in his talk, spoke about the transformative powers of Mind Mapping, which in his opinion is the most powerful ‘thinking tool’ of our times. He said that a Mind Map is a powerful graphic technique which provides a universal key to unlock the potential of the brain. While engaging the audience in a simple exercise, he demonstrated how a Mind Map harnesses the full range of cortical skills—word, image, number, logic, rhythm, colour, and spatial awareness—in a single, uniquely powerful manner. “In so doing, it gives you the freedom to roam the infinite expanses of your brain,” he said. Tony explained how the Mind Map can be applied to every aspect of life where improved learning and clearer thinking will enhance human performance. He highlighted that when used on a daily basis, Mind Maps can make life more productive, fulfilled, and successful on every level.

In her welcome address, Ameena Saiyid, Managing Director, Oxford University Press Pakistan, introduced Tony Buzan, and said that the talk is part of OUP’s ongoing efforts to organize and promote literary and cultural activities and events in Pakistan and thereby raising the profile of authors and other creative people.

Ahmed Ali Khan, President, Brain Trust (UK), Pakistan Chapter, and Niaz Ahmed Siddiki, Ex IG, Sindh Police, also spoke on the occasion.

Tony Buzan has been named as one of the world’s top 5 speakers by the Forbes magazine. Through over 40 years of research into the workings of the brain, Tony Buzan is dedicating his life to developing and refining techniques to help individuals think better and more creatively, and reach their full potential. As a popular psychology author, he has written or co-authored over 100 books that have appeared in 30 languages. He is the founder and President of the Brain Foundation and also the Brain Trust Charity, the World Memory Championships, and the World Championships of the Brain.
