SPELT International Conference

Oxford University Press organized several sessions for teachers at the 30th SPELT International Conference held on 5–7 September 2014 at Bahria College, Karachi. The photograph shows the popular television artist and musician/singer, Khaled Anam, and Zain Ahmed, Artistic Director of the National Academy of Performing Arts Repertory Theatre (NRT), talking to the audience during their interactive session on ‘Employing Performance Poetry and Drama as Effective Teaching Tools in the Classroom’.

Oxford University Press (OUP) organized several sessions for teachers at the 30th SPELT International Conference held on 5–7 September 2014 at Bahria College, Karachi. The photograph shows Arwa Khuzaima conducting a workshop on ‘Integrated Approach to Literacy Teaching’ which was based on the textbook series Nelson English Skills published by OUP. Arwa Khuzaima has over 26 years of experience in teaching both in Pakistan and abroad. She also works as a trainer with many leading institutions.

Seen in the photograph is Syed Nusrat Ali interacting with the audience during his workshop ‘How to Generate New Ideas?’ which revolved around developing creative thinking skills and techniques.
Syed Nusrat Ali is an international management consultant and motivational speaker.

The series showcased during the presentation included Village Tales, City Tales, Tasveeri Kahani Silsila (Graphic Stories), and Layla aur Munni Gudia, all published by OUP. Rumana Husain is a writer, illustrator, art critic and educationist.
