Book on Jinnah's quotes prescribed at AIOU.

Karachi, 2 July: The booklet Quotes from the Quaid, compiled and edited by Sharif al Mujahid and Liaquat Merchant and published by Oxford University Press (OUP), has been prescribed as required reading in the MA and M.Phil courses at the Allama Iqbal Open University, Islamabad, for the next five years. This was indicated by Dr Samina Awan, Associate Professor and Chairperson, Department of History, Allama Iqbal Open University. Around three hundred students get enrolled each year in the MA and M.Phil programmes at the university. Each student is provided a study package with the prescribed reading materials in it. OUP is making special arrangements to make the booklet readily available to these students. 

Quotes from the Quaid is a compilation of the inspiring quotes and maxims of the founder of Pakistan, Mohammad Ali Jinnah, and has been culled from various materials available on him. These thought-provoking words spell out Jinnah's vision of Pakistan. Although Jinnah spoke on a multitude of issues in the course of his long and illustrious career, this booklet includes his words and thoughts on areas relevant to contemporary Pakistan and provides guidance to Pakistanis in various important spheres of public and private life. Since its publication, Quotes from the Quaid has gained immense popularity among school and college students.

Liaquat H. Merchant is President of The Jinnah Society, Managing Trustee of The Jinnah Foundation, and Executive Trustee of Quaid-e-Azam Aligargh Education Trust. 

Around 95,000 copies of the Urdu translation of Quotes from the Quaid(Quaid-i-Azam nay Farmaya) have been distributed free by OUP to schools all over Pakistan. 1000 copies of the booklet were also provided to the President of Pakistan for distribution to parliamentarians and other Government functionaries.
