Oxford University Press (OUP) is organizing a symposium for educators on the theme ‘Maximising Learning Potential’ on 15 January 2017 from 8.45 a.m. to 5.15 p.m. at the Waldorf Astoria Dubai Palm Jumeirah.
The event will showcase the textbooks, supplementary readers, and digital resources published by OUP China, India, and Pakistan for all Indian, Pakistani and Arabic medium schools. It will be an ideal opportunity for educators in the UAE to come together to share their experiences and expertises, and learn about the effective use of OUP resources in classrooms.
As part of the symposium, the OUP author of several bestselling school textbook series, Nicholas Horsburgh, will lead a workshop on ‘Facilitating the 21st Century Learner’, to be followed by trainers from China, India, and Pakistan presenting on the latest products and teaching strategies in their respective regions. Discussions will focus on ways to unlock the latent potential of students for improving learning and life skills.
A display of books published by OUP China, India, and Pakistan will be arranged at the venue throughout the day. Oxford consultants from these countries will be on hand to talk through each of these displays.
Ameena Saiyid OBE, Representative in the UAE of OUP China, India, Malaysia, and Pakistan and MD OUP Pakistan, will formally introduce Ibrahim Abdurakhimov, the OUP Education Consultant based in Dubai, to the UAE community of teachers and educators. Ibrahim will be laising directly with schools to determine their students’ learning needs and will provide educational solutions based on their requirements.
The symposium will conclude with distribution of gift bags and certificates to the particiants.
This is a unique opportunity to bring the teaching community of the UAE together and discuss the best resources, pedagogical strategies, and methodologies that can be used to optimize the learning and teaching experience in schools. Participation in the symposium will allow institutions to target student needs through the dynamic breadth and variety of educational resources, tools, and services on offer.
