Oxford organizes its annual book fair

The annual Oxford Book Fair, organized by Oxford University Press, has commenced and will continue till 31 October 2015 at the Oxford bookshops in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Faisalabad, Multan, Rahimyar Khan, Sargodha, Peshawar, Abbottabad, Quetta, Hyderabad, and Sukkur. The much-awaited yearly event offers attractive discounts on a wide range of books and draws a large number of visitors which includes book-lovers, children, booksellers, librarians, and students and teachers from schools, colleges, and universities.

The book fair features a diverse selection of books including locally published and imported children's books, English Language Teaching material, reference books, and school and higher education textbooks. Well-researched academic and general books on international affairs, politics, history, literature, as well as biographies and memoirs of prominent Pakistani personalities will also be showcased. The ever-popular range of Oxford’s hallmark English and bi-lingual dictionaries and thesauruses will be available at special, reduced prices.

Of particular interest to people visiting the fair this year will be the biographies/memoirs of prominent political personalities like Benazir Bhutto: A Multidimensional Portrait by Anna Suvorova, Power Failure: The Political Odyssey of a Pakistani Woman by Syeda Abida Hussain, and Neither a Hawk nor a Dove: An Insider’s Account of Pakistan’s Foreign Relations including Details of the Kashmir Framework by Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri. Children will enjoy browsing through books like Tota Khan aur Bakri Ara ka Safarnama, a story which takes children through different parts of Pakistan; Bhooli Bisri Suni Sunai: Lok Kahanian, a collection of folk tales told and retold through the ages; and Amai’s Mohenjo Daro Adventure, which takes children back in time to the ancient civilization of Mohenjo Daro.

As part of the book fair, a lucky draw and lucky dip will also be organized at select Oxford bookshops.
