Digital Education Roadshow

Introduction

In the past few years, Pakistan has received a tide of new players in the field of educational technology. These range from hardware manufacturers to developers of educational games and apps, learning management systems, and multimedia e-learning content. A young Ed Tech market has evolved, and it continues to generate increasing levels of interest among consumers.

As education leaps into digital, Oxford University Press (OUP) Pakistan is thrilled to be onboard the transition. Traditionally a print giant, OUP has actively pursued digital innovation and is now rolling out tech-based educational solutions. The recently launched Oxford Achiever, an English language learning and assessment application, has met a highly enthusiastic response from schools. In addition, our current and developing band of e-learning services includes learning platforms and e-Readers, mobile dictionary apps, SMS-based assessments, and interactive/multi-media CDs for supplementing school textbooks.

What we are seeking

As part of these efforts, OUP is also seeking to collaborate with other industry players in building innovative digital learning solutions for both school and higher education markets. For this purpose, we at OUP are hosting the Digital Education Roadshow, with the hope of facilitating Ed Tech vendors in pitching new or existing solutions to us.

We would like to collaborate with creators of high quality multimedia content and/or educational technologies that can be integrated with our courses/books for language learning and STEM as well as teacher development in the said areas. Vendors are welcome to showcase a range of services and solutions under these categories:

SERVICES:

• Educational content (preferably multilingual; including instructional audio-visual content and HTML5 interactives and animation)
• Augmented reality apps and content for textbooks, readers and graphic novels

SOLUTIONS:

• Assessment solutions
• Educational games for Language Learning and STEM
• Professional development solutions for teachers
• Integrated courseware platforms (e.g. LMS, e-readers, digital aggregation and sharing platforms, but not school management or administration tools)
• Hardware that is specifically designed to facilitate digital learning and DRM enabled distribution

Selection Criteria

Services and solutions will be evaluated against the following criteria:

• Content quality — expertise to deliver superior graphics and writing
• Flexibility — of platform (desktop, tablet, mobile) and content (text, images, audio, video)
• Interactivity/Learner Engagement —use of interactive and/or gaming elements to achieve learning and assessment objectives
• Intellectual Property safeguards
• Sustainable innovation — solutions that are innovative but simple and easy-to-implement with long-term tech support structures
• Offline accessibility options for the solutions

Your presentation pitch should demonstrate these aspects effectively with samples and prototypes. It is equally important that vendors are able to clearly communicate how the solution can be implemented in schools, colleges and/or universities, and how it serves the OUP mission of achieving excellence in education through publishing.

What’s in it for you

The Roadshow is an opportunity for selected vendors from across Pakistan to showcase their work and discuss partnership possibilities in exclusive sessions with OUP Pakistan and OUP Asia Education branches. These partnerships could include but are not limited to any of the following forms:

• OUP buying from the developer, a fully developed digital learning product with exclusive rights and long-term maintenance support
• OUP acquiring vendor services to develop educational content and/or an integrated Ed Tech solution with maintenance support
