Intikhab-e-Kalam: Yaas Yagana

Compiled by Muhammad Reza Kazimi
Yaas Yagana Changezi was the founder of Anti-Poetry in Urdu. He chose the traditional forms of ghazal and rubaiyat, yet his approach to life and literature was markedly individual. Yagana shunned love and revolution, the dominant themes in the poetry of his age. He was a poet who had thought and reflection as the basis for his appeal and the poetry in this selection is reflective of this underlying appeal.
